Decoupaged Canvas

I’m back!! With major house painting to be done, milestone birthday parties to be planned, the daily 9-5 grind to pay the bills, my poor blog has been neglected. However, I’ve been busy with lots of little projects and have revamped the blog with a new look – WordPress have so many great themes to choose from. I hope you like it.

You know when you see great pictures in calendars, magazines, cards etc, and you just want to enjoy them a little longer, an easy way to do this is to put them on a canvas which is easily bought from art & craft stores in a variety of sizes.

I originally saw this image in an airline calendar but then saw it in their inflight magazine. Isn’t it gorgeous??

After buying my canvas, I spray-painted it in gold. Once dry, I attached some gold ribbon with decoupage medium and then placed my picture on top,

The ribbon and picture are both stuck on with decoupage medium. Although it goes on opaque, it is clear once it dries.

However, once everything was dried, I felt it needed something extra. I sorted through my stash of beads and braid/lace off-cuts and stuck these on in various spots with craft glue.

Once the glue was dried, I put another coat of decoupage medium over the whole canvas, including the embellishments. The final result looks pretty good I think.

A pretty picture, canvas, decoupage medium and some embellishments of your choice are all it takes for this lovely piece of artwork.

I’ve put step by step instructions on my Craft Found site which will hopefully make the process easier for you. There are so many variations you could do with this depending on your picture, preferred colours and embellishments you have at home. I’d love to see your creations when you’ve had a go.
